UL Benchmarks has released an update to 3DMark that includes a Feature Test for AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 2 (FSR 2), the popular upscaling-based performance enhancement technology.

This update was long overdue, considering that 3DMark has had a Feature Test for DLSS for years, and even added one for Intel XeSS in October 2022. AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) technology is an open-source, cross-platform upscaling solution that uses the latest AMD FSR 2 temporal upscaling technology to enhance image quality and boost framerates in supported games across a wide range of products and platforms.

The new FSR 2 Feature Test in 3DMark uses a scene from the Speed Way DirectX 12 Ultimate benchmark to compare the fine details of a vehicle and a technic droid between native resolution with TAA and FSR 2, highlighting the performance uplift. To use the feature test, users require any GPU that supports DirectX 12 and FSR 2, including those from AMD, NVIDIA, and Intel Arc. The FSR 2 Feature Test is available as a free update to 3DMark.

With this update, UL Benchmarks has enabled users to measure the performance uplift that FSR 2 can provide in supported games. The addition of this feature test for FSR 2 ensures that users can easily and accurately benchmark their system's performance and compare it with other systems. This update will also benefit game developers by providing a standard testing method for FSR 2's performance.
