Ubisoft Taunts Software pirates with missing FOV control in Far Cry 4
Ubisoft is taking a smear out of software pirates by disabling FOV control on illegal downloaded versions of Far Cry 4. A good number of players are complaining online about the lack of field of view control, it turns out Ubisoft disabled this feature via a day-one patch to troll pirates. Well, good on them, if you play the game then just buy it.
Developers have trolled pirates with game-crippling devices in the past. Most recently, The Sims 4 put an ever-growing pixelated blur on the screen of pirated copies. Other examples include the notorious immortal pink scorpion of Serious Sam: BFE, and Game Dev Tycoon, in which pirates have their virtual games virtually pirated until their studio goes out of business.

I think some sites are getting the wrong end of the stick here, Ubi didn't disable the FOV in the pirated version to tease them, its simply that the pre-release (non day 1 patched) version of the game had a number of settings missing - 1 of which was the FOV setting.
As such anyone who complained about the FOV being missing, ousted themselves as pirates as any version that released properly got all the extra settings.

Using this logic, all versions WITH FOV control then MUST BE LEGAL!

Uplay is annoying like hell, because it pops out some stupid windows for uploading videos to Youtube. FU Ubisoft, i don't want to do that.
Actually uplay is the main reason I'm not buying Ubisoft games anymore.

Yeah, no idea why they HAVE to throw their launcher app into our face, must be some incompetent CEO's idea.
Same can be said for a lot of other companies like Blizzard, Glyph and so on.
None of them seems to understand that things can be so much easier with one unified launcher app (Steam or better) instead of that every one needs to have their own stupid thing.
Not to talk about their digital download prices.... how many do still buy them keys directly from the companies these days when you can get the same keys a lot cheaper (up to 50% !!!) from resellers that bought a whole bulk of them?
