Ubisoft Enabling Fraudulent Far Cry 4 Keys For Customers Already Playing

Oh Ubisoft, arrange these things BEFORE you make any harsh decisions that directly impact your end-users, not afterwards. Ubisoft is enabling the keys again that have been disabled last week.

Ubisoft has continued to investigate the matter and has amended its decision. “After further investigation into the matter of keys that were fraudulently purchased on EA's Origin store, we are reinstating keys for consumers who already had successfully activated and started playing the games,” a representative told us via email. “Any remaining fraudulently obtained and resold keys have been deactivated.”

The publisher says it will continue to deactivate fraudulently purchased keys in the future. “We are working with EA to prevent situations like this from happening again, and we will continue to deactivate keys that are found to be fraudulently obtained and resold,” we have been told. “We strongly recommend that players purchase keys and downloadable games only from the Uplay shop or trusted retailers.”

Retailers Kinguin and G2A both issued statements on the matter in January when their customers reported that keys purchased from the sites were made inactive. You can read our previous coverage for more on this story.

Ubisoft don't to keep any of the stolen money.

Is it not a massive first world problem to complain about having two copies of the same game, especially when you are able to get a refund for the original key.

So, do you think that if my credit card info gets stolen and thief purchases goods from UBI in value of $20000.
And then after 6 months I realize my money are gone, will they refund me?
(Even if I notice after 1 month it is long time after I have lost any legal protection and insurance.)

If they do refund you, then I advice everyone to give their credit info to such thief for 50% of profit.
That would be best interest rate you can ever get anywhere.

Your bank will likely refund you minus a fee.

If the blame lies with the Merchant then the Merchant has to refund the money, no insurance company will pay unless it has to and no bank will make a customer pay if the customer can prove it wasn't them

As for the fraud thing, people do that quite often, but it's extremely high risk for the small amounts of money you would get.

Not a single penny without insurance. That is why I have it. And even while I have it, there is very strict time limit.
I get full refund for transactions which happen in 36hours to time I call them to block my card.
Then it goes down pretty fast and if I am week too late, I get nothing.

But hey, do ask your own bank what is insurance for. And if you should have it or not :)
