Two AMD based TRX40 motherboards from Asus Get Listed at Etailer

Two AMD based TRX40 motherboards from Asus Get Listed at Etailer

Over in the land down under, an online retailer has listed two TRX40 motherboards from Asus. The motherboards are designed for the new Threadripper 3000 processors, scheduled to launch in November.

The two TRX40 motherboards are interesting in the sense that they give an outlook on the possible prices of the boards. The Australian online retailer charges the equivalent of around 510 euros for the Asus Prime TRX40 Pro and wait for it .... about 830 euros (!) for the ROG Zenith II Extreme.

The predecessors of the TRX40 boards (X399) are available in the same shop for around 284 euros and 640 euros. Remember though, it could just be a placeholder and that the final prices could be lower.

Threadripper 3000 announcement on November 5th
An official announcement date for the Threadripper 3000 processors and the matching motherboards is still pending. Chatter on the web indicates a 5th of November for announcements and presentations of the Threadripper 3960X, 3970X and 3990X. The two smaller models are expected to go on sale on 19 November. The Threadripper 3990X should follow at a later date.

Meanwhile, Videocardz reports that the presentation date for the three models 3990X, 3970X and 3960X is on 5 November:

AMD is planning three Threadripper 3000 SKUs: 3960X, 3970X and 3990X. The first two will be unveiled on November 5th, but the embargo on sales and reviews will be lifted on November 19th.

Threadripper 3990X

On November 5th AMD will also announce Ryzen Threadripper 3990X processor. This model is currently planned for January 2020. In November AMD will only reveal the core count and the name of the CPU itself (it is clearly written in the document, in fact, it mentions “a teaser”). It is very likely that on November 5th the clock speeds will not be revealed.

TRX40 Chipset

On November 5th AMD will also unveil TRX40 chipset and motherboard makers will have a green light to showcase their TRX40 motherboards. However, they will also not be available for sale until November 19th.

Threadripper 3980X and TRX80 Chipset

The documents we have currently do not list 3980X SKU and there is no mention of TRX80 motherboards. We are also not discussing core counts and clock speeds in this post, as this information is not available in the documents that we have as well.

Those kind of comments does not help the general health of the forum.
Just to say.
Intel is far from dead, is just loosing grip among hardware enthusiast ( half of them )

I probably hooked as a fish to the comment too.

What people who post stuff about intel or amd probably don't think about is, who owns these companies? I bet they have major stockholders in common. Buying from one or the other probably doesn't matter, ultimately. AMD is an offshoot of Intel and they swap employees like there's a revolving door. In a sense, you could think of them both as one big company. I wish Nvidia made PC CPUs.

I love how people like to beat a dead horse, personally i don't have any favorites, just buy whatever is best on the market that fits your budget. We seen shift in the past from to the other, and atm AMD is the right choice for most, but people thinking that intel is dead... or that this will really make a difference are not realistic, the market share is still favoring intel and will take years of continuing to improve and intel being asleep for it to be a "Intelripper"/"IntelDeathWatch", with how much money intel has, they can bounce back and stump on AMD as they have done in the past, i personally don't want neither company to take a serious lead over the other, nor i want either to die, i would like both to continue to battle for marketshare and improving their offering both in price and performance side, and have both cpu offerings co exist in the market. There are rumors that nvidia is starting to test waters entering the cpu market, i personally never understood why they didn't back in the NFORCE Chipset days, and there are rumors about ARM also coming... so certainly the cpu market will have a nice battle for market share over the next decade.
