Toshiba Announces XG 5 M.2 NVMe SSD

Toshiba Adds the XG 5 M.2 NVMe SSD towards its high-performing line of M2 SSDs. The new 8cm based 2280 form-factor M2 SSD ties towars a x4 PCIe link, and when it needs that it'll be fast.

Using the latest NVMe 1.2 protocol combined with new Toshiba's 64-layer BiCS Flash (3D Vertically stacked TLC NAND) this SSD will be available in 256 GB, 512 GB, and 1 TB. Performance wise it reached sequential speeds of up to 3,000 MB/s reads, with up to 2,100 MB/s writes. This is a TLC drive, meaning it uses a small partition of SLC written NAND as cache. The drives will become available in June, prices are yet TBA.
