CD Projekt RED has revealed The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt's next-generation release date. The latest version of the game will be made available for free to anyone who already owns it as of December 14, according to the developer.

The company said on social networks that it will unveil additional information about the game's playability and the full list of enhancements tomorrow. The upgrade is anticipated for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, S, and PC versions of the open-world RPG, along with the introduction of a new physical version. CD Projekt RED previously claimed that the update would include new ray-traced lighting features, which were first released in 2015, as well as texture enhancements.

The developer has announced that The Witcher 3: Wild will be released in September 2020 on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, S, and PC. At the time, the business delegated the job to Saber Interactive, tasked with creating a version of the game for the Nintendo Switch. Despite the developer's rapid advancement, CD Projekt RED assumed control of the game's production due to the difficulties presented by the Ukraine conflict. Although the corporation has postponed the update indefinitely, they have been discussing its release in 2022 in recent months.

According to the corporation, the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch versions of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will also receive upgrades. Soon-to-be-announced release dates for the content inspired by the franchise's Netflix adaptation will be included.

Update: includes Higher-res Textures, Ray Traced GI, DLSS and FSR 2. CDPR has improved the realism of the environment by raising the resolution of textures and redesigning plant life. The new real-time ray traced global illumination (RT-GI) is supposed to improve lighting in all game areas vastly. The game also has super-sampling performance boosts for NVIDIA DLSS and AMD FSR 2. Since the new assets are higher resolution and use RT-GI, a new preset has been added to the graphics settings dubbed "Ultra+," which cranks up everything to its absolute limit. New camera angles can be selected in the game's user interface.
