To be released Core i5-12400F Offers Ryzen 5 5600X Performance for roughly 200 USD

Intel Core i5 12400F spotted in benchmarks, could offer Ryzen 5 5600X performance at that sub 200 USD marker.  i5-12400F will be based on just six cores performance cores (and threads).

That means there are no energy cores. Single-core and multi-core clock rates of the processor are 4.4 and 3.4 GHz, respectively, at power levels 2 and 1 (PL2), according to the processor's specifications. In terms of power consumption, the chip has a TDP/PL1 of 65W and power consumption (PL2) of 117 W.

Comptoir Hardware posted some results and is seems the processor is able to outperform the Ryzen 5 5600X with gaming scores on a constant basis. These tests were carried out on Windows 11 with an undisclosed amount of DDR5 RAM and an AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT graphics processor.

The i5-12400F was spotted in Canada for 249 CAD (200 USD), and if accurate that makes this a really value processor considering the 279 USD price tag of the Ryzen 5 5600X. In January, the Intel Core i5-12400F processor is expected to be unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES). See below the benchmark results, courtesy of Comptoir Hardware.

How is that irrelevant? Nobody looking at buying a 12400F is going to spend several hundred on a DDR5 kit.

That pairing makes zero sense.

12400f only makes sense if there was B660 board + ddr4.

If this is true, the 12400F may undermined the 12600 sales as well.

More than sure . You don't need K models anymore .Same happened with 10/11 gen . 10400f/11400f is constantly out of stock , it is best selling CPU right now.

I build few PC's for my friends last year , all were based on 10400f or 11400f . I'm 5600X owner :)

Whole alder like only make sense only in one case scenario :

1. Enthusiast with deep pocket that need the best.

All others , there are better options . That is why Alder sales are soo bad ( and my source is pretty solid , big etailer).

Ask your source about Zen 3 sales. I suspect the problem for ADL isn't cost, it's timing. Almost everyone who's needed a new PC due to COVID complications has already bought one recently, and as most of us have agreed - as good as ADL is, it's not a compelling upgrade for anyone with a freshly built or upgraded rig.

They say Zen3 was disaster at launch. Later sold quite good( many solo orders, means people with am4 boards already). Still not as good as 10400f and 11400f tho :)
