The Medium: Game Performance Below 60 FPS even at 1920x1080 / RTX 3080

Last week the system requirements for the game the medium got released, and many wonder about the game targeting 30 FPS. As it now turns out, the game cannot even reach 60 FPS in 1920x1080 with a GeForce RTX 3080, and that's with Raytracing disabled.

The peoples at DSOG tried this with an NVIDIA GPU, a Core i9 9900K, and 16GB of RAM @ 3800 MHz / 970 PRO NVMe SSD. Windows 10 was patched, the latest drivers were used. All this was not enough to run The Medium smoothly, even at Full HD. The even seems to stutter all the time as well.

DSOG: The Medium drops below 60fps on the NVIDIA GeForce RTX3080, even at 1080p/High settings and without any Ray Tracing effects. The guys don’t know what’s going on here. What we do know is that the game’s graphics do not justify these ridiculously high PC requirements. Again, these underwhelming performance numbers are WITHOUT Ray Tracing.

For instance, here is a scene when you first use the game’s dual reality system. The image on the left is at 1440p/High Settings/Ray Tracing & DLSS, whereas the image on the right is at 1440p/High/No RT/ DLSS On. As you can see, and even with DLSS, the game runs below 60fps.

Not only that, but the performance hit of Ray Tracing is only 7-8fps (which is abnormal as RT usually has at least a 30fps hit in this game). But that only happened in a specific scene, which indicates that the game has serious optimization problems
