The First GeForce GTX 980 Benchmarks ?

The First GeForce GTX 980 Benchmarks ?

Two 3DMark scores of a GeForce GTX 980 and 980M SLI have surfaced on-to the mighty interweb today, the website Videocardz posted them. The GeForce GTX 980 would score 10415 in 3DMark Firestrike, which is roughly GeForce GTX 780 Ti level performance. The mobile 980M in SLI 13181.

Before I continue I want to say that there is no validity of the screen-shots whatsoever the scores are interesting (if true).   The first thing you need to keep in mind is that IF the scores are true, then they would have been run on early production cards with non-final drivers.

Whatever you may think of the benchmarks, if this is the performance of the highest performing Maxwell GPU then the numbers are not rather impressive as of yet. If true, then you can probably expect Nvidia's high-end cards to drop in price.

Following the 3DMark scores Videocardz then fabricated and guesstimated a performance chart where they shows some numbers (by extrapolating the 3DMark scores and estimating performance) based on the 3DMark scores. I'd be very hesitant to take these number seriously. Regardless it is an interesting post on a slow Sunday. It will not be much longer before we'll be testing these graphics cards ourselves. Only then you'll be objectively able to hear and read the real numbers. All the screen-shots below are all courtesy of Videocardz.

After hours of work, combining all the data into one piece, we can finally show you GeForce 900 and 900M performance at a glance.

Before you ask, no, we do not have any final specifications as of yet. Sure, we have our predictions, but that’s something you can find in our previous posts. Today we are only looking at synthetic performance.

Validity concerns aside, but to me it just looks like the GTX 780 Ti released ages ago. *sigh* guess I'll keep hanging on then for something that actually performs better than currently release cards.

So, basically it is as fast as 780 Ti. Let's see what the 980 Ti would do.
