The Atari console Ataribox Will Cost Roughly 250 Bucks and Gets Custom AMD SoC
The Ataribox, a new console from the Atari game company, will be launched in spring 2018. The device will be offered through a crowd-funding campaign for roughly 250 to 300 dollars (~240 euros).
Later on in the autumn, the device should appear on the Indiegogo crowdfunding site. Look at the Ataribox as a bit of a steambox, on which you can play a number of classic Atari games, but modern games can as long as they are not too graphically demanding. The Ataribox will make use of a custom AMD processor with Radeon graphics. There are now details about it just yet. The console will be running a customized version of Linux. The Ataribox would be capable of music and video streaming as well as running apps and web browsing.
The Ataribox team will start its campaign on Indiegogo next month to crowdfund the development of this console. In July, the first images of the Ataribox were released. The device is styled after the Atari 2600 from 1977.

Looks very neat. Personally will purchase it if besides basic features and games (curious what it will be able to actually push out) it will be able to play various high resolution media.

Yeah the games and features are what makes it interesting or not to me I have to admit. Still no real intel on that, or did I miss it?

Basically if I will be able to hook up this thing to my TV and besides all the features, for example install some side software on it (SVP as an example), and run high quality media by it, I will be sold on it.

$250? Seems a bit steep for a nostalgia-box. Interest level wanes, significantly.
