Tango’s portable computer is as small as a smartphone
In a bid to create the ‘world’s most portable computer’ San Diego, Calif-based company Tango has launched a crowd funding campaign on Indiegogo and has already raised $223,423, that is well above its initial goal of $100,000. If the terrific response to the campaign is anything to go by, Tango will eventually come up with a full quad-core Windows PC decked into a device the size of a smartphone.
Owner of Tango Bhavesh Shah said, “Tango is a pocketable, dockable, officeable, entertainmentable, gameable PC. It allows for greater access and mobility than any other personal computer has offered. We believe Tango is the next step in the evolution of the PC. During my consulting life, I was fed up of carrying heavy laptop bags with multiple laptops (personal laptop, employer laptop and client laptop). Going through security checkpoints at airport has also been a huge hassle. I have been doing this for years. I always thought there must be an easy and simple solution to this problem.”
It is much like the Raspberry Pi computer, however better suited for gaming. It will have an AMD A6-5200 quad-core, 2-gigahertz CPU at up to 25 watts, and GCN GPU HD8400 integrated graphics. It will come in 2 gigabytes to 8 gigabytes memory and 32 gigabytes to 512 gigabytes of flash memory storage options. The device has a small docking station that is the size of an external CD drive and provides connectivity to a display, keyboard, and other devices via USB or LAN ports. Tango has collaborated with AMD and a dozen suppliers to provide immersive gaming experience on the device. The same can be used to can play games on a TV with a separately sold game controller.

Would make a great HTPC plugged into a NAS for example.
One thing that confuses me tho is why go to all the effort to make it so small when you have to plug it into a docking station 3 times its size.
If I understood correctly you cant connect a keyboard/display when not docked so what can you do with it when not docked? Put it in your pocket and have people admire the bulge?

Exactly. It's to show off your wealth and 'cool new gadget'.
No one's gonna haul a bag full of wires with monitor and I/O devices just to enjoy 'fantastic' performance when in use.

But SmartPhones like the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S3 already do all that a computer can do.
So why are they attempting to raise funds for this venture?
