SuperMicro to release two Supero X299 motherboards (updated)

Supermicro presented its C7X299-PG at the IT trade show Computex in Taiwan. Much like all Intel board partners Supermicro is cooking up something nice as well. And I do say nice with a reason, as previously the designs (aesthetically) have been lacking a bit in our opinion. Things are about to change.

And that chance is for the better alright, we spot a nice black CB series, metal shielded PCI-Express slots, Realtek ALC1220 audio and hey now, even a 5 gbit Ethernet jack, Jack! The C7X299-PG obviously has Socket LGA 2066 for the new Intel  Core X-Series processor family. It supports up to 128GB DDR4 memory, has four reinforced PCI-E slots, one Gbit and one 5Gbit LAN port, USB3.1a and c ports, two M.2 and two U.2 ports. In addition, the latest Realtek chip (ALC1220). The C7X299-PG Supero series will be reelased in two models:

  • C7X299-PG
  • C7X299-PGF – includes remote management via IPMI
IPMI (Intelligent Platform Management Interface) is a server feature that allows remote control and monitoring of the PC. Supermicro is the brand behind Supero. SMC traditional makes servers and part of that quality translates itself towards their motherboards. More information will become available soon including details on pricing and availability. Here is a sneak peek. I requested some more photos which hopefully I can in the next hour or so.
