Steam for Linux Beta Launches with 26 Titles

Valve has released the beta client for Steam for Linux. Team Fortress 2 comes included with the client download (it is free-to-play after all), but if you want to play some other games, you'll be pleased to know that there are a total of 26 Linux games now available on Steam. Most of these titles are indie games, but there is one full-fledged retail game  Serious Sam 3: BFE - that sticks out from the bunch.

At the moment, the Steam for Linux beta is only compatible with Ubuntu 12.04 and above. Steam for Linux team member Frank Crockett says that Valve will eventually release Steam for more Linux distros. The beta for the Steam for Linux client also supports the Big Picture mode, also currently in beta.

Any benchmarks yet, if theres no performance boost then i really dont see the point in it. Dont have as much free time as i use too so not interested in having to cmdline everything.

Though maybe if valve made a stable version of linux that was just as user friendly as windows, then maybe.

Agreed with Ghosty. If the same amount games were available on Linux like on Windows, guess what gamers would've choose...

Gamers as in the 99% of which don't even know what linux is?

Maybe if this turns out to grow, Linux will be made more user friendly, at least Ubuntu. But i will love support for other Linux OS's not only Ubuntu.

So only 1% of all PC gamers know about Linux? Looking at a couple of forums says otherwise.
