Of course, compared to Mafia 3´s graphics and optimization the poorly developed cryengine 3 is garbage.
Played crysis it also looks outdated now

i have been complaining a lot about the fps...sometimes getting 12-18 fps in port olisar and grim hex no matter the settings or resolutioni also have a lot of mouse lag there...
In area 18 i get 40-65 fps..last nite cause of the free week with all the spaceships i got in my hanger 80+ fps with any ships spawned....
On the day before of citizen-con there was a life broadcast on twitch and many people joined in ..myself included... and i could count easily 60 people online in area 18 and it was smooth as fuuck..no glitching or fps problems and we were all running together with the main streamer..i was very impressed.
Its all network problems at the moment and version 3.0 coming out will be released with new network code,
Chris 's carreer name is online here and he will persist until this game is ready to be released....there is even major real life actors in this game.
Its is 4 years into development now and games take 5-6 years to make..its one of those things so we have to be patient...as they are also working on 2 games at the same time and squadron 42 has been delayed cause chris said he wants to implement the new 3.0 planetery procudural tech into squadron 42..so another setback there

Yeah that's actually what Star Citizen looks like, we won't be getting lesser graphics, just better. As for the low FPS online, it has something to do with their network code. "i don't really understand it either." But you can be on an empty space station online and get 15-30FPS, and be in a solo flight or hangar and get 90+.
From my understanding the network calls are holding back everything else and the game can't do much until it gets the new network information. But they have new netcode in the works which solves those problems apparently. They explained it in one of the many interviews, but it was a bit over my head.
The game is damn beautiful. Chris Roberts is going all out perfectionist on this. He's making the game I've always wanted to play. I just wish they would put the Redeemer on the pipeline already. The guy that's supposed to be working on it is working on Squadron 42 ATM, But i guess the redeemer would be too OP this early on.

It'll be 10 years old next year, of course it looks dated now. Though I don't think there's been a game with volumetric clouds since?
