SP512 GeForce GTX 480 gets tested
Last week some photo's already showed up on NVIDIAs GeForce GTX 480 with the full 512 Shader processors / 64 Texture memory units. You guys know that at the initial; launch one SM shader cluster was diabled on this product to get better yield rates.
Expreview did a few tests on the 512 core graphics card, and compared it to the 480 core model that's out in the market. NVIDIA GeForce 258.96 drivers were used.
In 3DMark Vantage Extreme mode:
- The 512SP core card get's a score of 10,072 points
- The regular 480SP version get's a score of 9,521
The additional TMUs showed an evident impact on the texture fillrate, 41.55 GTexel/s for the 512 core card against 38.82 GTexel/s for the 480 core card. It remains a bit of a mystery if this model will actually make retail and if the anme will remain GTX 480, GTX 485 would be more suitable we feel.
