Following Microsoft, Sony tomorrow will reveal new PS5 details in a ‘deep dive’ tomorrow. PS5 lead system architect Mark Cerny will “provide a deep dive into PS5’s system architecture, and how it will shape the future of games” , Sony said on Twitter.

Sony’s event arrives shortly a Microsoft reveal of their full tech specs for their next-gen Xbox Series X console. The Series X boasts a custom AMD Zen 2 CPU boasting eight cores that clock in at 3.8GHz each and a custom AMD RDNA 2 GPU with 12 teraflops and 52 compute units clocked at 1.825GHz each, alongside 16GB of GDDR6 RAM and a 1TB custom NVMe SSD.

All we know about the PS5 at this point is that it should be based on an eight-core CPU (also AMD’s third-gen Ryzen line) and a custom GPU based on AMD’s Radeon Navi hardware. Sony is supporting 8K resolutions, 3D audio, 4K gaming at 120Hz, a lower power consumption option, and it’s a fast SSD, oh yes and hardware raytracing. Um, yes that does sound familiar, doesn't it?
