Sony NW-ZX700 Streaming compatible Android Walkman
It's hard to imagine that people do not have a smartphone, but Sony is trying to reintroduce that good old walkman in a new jacket. Sony announced the Android Walkman NW-ZX700 and NW-A300 series.
The operating system is powered by Android 12.0 and supports streaming playback. Furthermore, by implementing a new platform, power consumption during standby and when using streaming services is reduced, resulting in increased battery life. Furthermore, it is equipped with "DSEE Ultimate" AI technology, which upscales compressed sound sources to high-resolution class high-quality sound, allowing you to enjoy high-quality sound even when playing wirelessly via Bluetooth or using streaming services.
The NW-ZX700 series employs the same technologies as the "WM1" series' flagship model, including large-capacity solid polymer capacitors, FTCAP3, oxygen-free copper cutting blocks, large coils, and gold-added high-quality solder. A high-end model with enhanced sound clarity, expressive power of fine sound, and powerful bass. Furthermore, it has unique functions such as the high-performance full digital amplifier "S-Master HX," which supports high-resolution playback, and the "DSD remastering engine," which converts PCM sound sources into DSD signals equivalent to 11.2 MHz without losing any information in the original data.
The product lineup includes one model of the NW-ZX707 with a storage capacity of 64GB, a liquid crystal display of 5.0 type HD (1,280 x 720 dots), an IEEE802.11a/b/g/n/ac wireless LAN, Bluetooth 5.0, and the main unit. The color is black, the external dimensions are 72.5mm wide, 16.9mm deep, 132.3mm tall, and it weighs approximately 227g.

The NW-A300 series is a small model with a 3.6-inch LCD display. The low-resistance battery used in the "ZX" series is used for the first time in the "A" series, improving vocal and instrument sound clarity. The product lineup includes two models, the "NW-A307" with a storage capacity of 64GB and the "NW-A306" with a storage capacity of 32GB, an IEEE802.11a/b/g/n/ac wireless LAN, Bluetooth 5.0, and three body colors: gray, blue, and black. The external dimensions are 56.5mm wide, 11.8mm deep, 98.4mm tall, and weighs approximately 113g.
Pricing will run from 250 upwards to 700 USD for the most expensive model.

Walkman?
That name rings a bell.

Had a few Walkmans, were the hottest thing back then. Loved them all.
But then smart phones happened...

There is a demand for this type of product, even more since Apple have stopped iPod production, sadly for Sony you pay this walkman for the same price than other brand but with less listening quality.
Also people who buy this kind of product, chose quality over price.
2 reasons why Sony haven't success so much with previous versions, and might do the same with this one.
Fun thing: they still do the real tape walkman but with modern tech and it is awesome (premium price, real metalic shell and button and so) and this one is really nice.

There are places where a smartphone, or any device with a camera or a radio, isn't welcome to. Hard to say if that's enough of a market for anything, though.

Nearly $700 for top end version and no AX support.
