Sony has announced the release of two 4K-compatible swivel cameras, the SRG-A40 and SRG-A12, with a PTZ auto-framing function.

The new "PTZ auto framing function" is installed in the camera body, automatically tracking the subject and adjusting the composition according to its movement. The camera can continue to capture the subject and shoot with a natural composition even if the operator is absent or unfamiliar with the operation.

Both cameras have a 1/2.5 type 4K CMOS image sensor "Exmor R", which supports 4K up to 30fps and full HD 60fps shooting. The "SRG-A40" has a 20x optical zoom and can shoot 4K up to 30x with all-pixel super-resolution zoom that utilizes its own image processing technology. The "SRG-A12" supports 12x optical zoom. Additionally, both cameras support teleconvert mode (SRG-A40: 80x / SRG-A12: 24x), allowing for everything from bird's-eye view shooting in a wide place to close-up shooting of the subject.

The company does not yet disclose the prices for the cameras.
