Socket AM4 motherboard BIOS update - ready for Ryzen 3000 CPUs - Series 500 Chipset

Socket AM4 motherboard BIOS update - ready for Ryzen 3000 CPUs - Series 500 Chipset

The first motherboard manufacturers started updating AMD Motherboards to offer support for the pending Ryzen 3000 processors. Asus, Biostar and MSI have released AGESA version 0.0.7.0 for a large number of motherboards and they show microcode to support new Ryzen procs codenamed Matisse processors.

Thus far there are the firmware updates primarily for 400series boards like the X470 and B450 chipset base products. However, some older X370 boards are spotted with support as well. Whether and when partners update which motherboards with new UEFI versions remains open for the time being. Since AMD maintains the socket AM4 and probably will not significantly exceed the thermal power loss of 115 watts, the compatibility should be far-reaching at least in the weeks after the release of the CPUs.

The Matisse aka Ryzen 3000 are AMD's third generation of Ryzen CPUs based on the Zen 2 microarchitecture. The predecessors, Summit Ridge (Ryzen 1000) and Pinnacle Ridge (Ryzen 2000), use Zen and Zen+ for fabrication technology. With Matisse AMD changes from the 14/12-nm method to 7 nm, with a CPU based on chiplets. Each (of two) CPU chiplets has eight cores, for the desktop models one or two are fitter. In addition, there is an I/O chip in 14 nm, this includes, among other things responsible for the DDR4 controller / dual-channel memory and the PCIe Gen4 controller and features such as SATA / USB.

In January 2019, AMD showed a pre-production sample of a Ryzen 3000 that was as fast as a Core i9-9900K with eight cores showing less system power consumption. How final the frequencies and clock rates of Matisse will look is not yet confirmed. AMD's third-generation Ryzen processors could be presented at the Computex 2019 , which will be held at the end of May.

While the motherboard become compatible, you may expect a new 500 series to be released as well. VideoCardz reports on a list that names some of Asus' planned X570 motherboards for the upcoming Ryzen 3000 (Matisse) AMD CPUs. The list includes twelve models from the series ROG Crosshair VIII, ROG Strix, Prime, Pro WS and TUF Gaming.

The following list is not final:

  • ROG CROSSHAIR VIII FORMULA
  • ROG CROSSHAIR VIII HERO
  • ROG CROSSHAIR VIII HERO (WI-FI)
  • ROG CROSSHAIR VIII IMPACT
  • ROG STRIX X570-E GAMING
  • ROG STRIX X570-F GAMING
  • ROG STRIX X570-I GAMING
  • PRIME X570-P
  • PRIME X570-PRO
  • Pro WS X570-ACE
  • TUF GAMING X570-PLUS (WI-FI)
  • TUF GAMING X570-PLUS

There were already indications for the upcoming X570 portfolio from mainboard manufacturer ASRock. The online databases of the Eurasian Economic Commission listed the following entries:

  • X570M Pro4
  • X570M Pro4 2.0
  • X570 Pro4
  • X570 Pro4 2.0
  • X570 Phantom Gaming X
  • X570 Phantom Gaming 6
  • X570 Phantom Gaming 4
  • X570 Extreme4
  • X570 Taichi

Please be Aware! AGESA 0070 for ASUS broke PBO on X470 MB's, same with the beta bios for some MSI boards too, after contacting ASUS they work on solution and released new BIOS with AGESA 0072 version 4602 few days ago (I shared it on thread) and now PBO works, it will be up in the next few days on the official support page.

more in this PBO bug:

So check before updating if the new Bios is bug free .

While that 12 core up to 5GHz is Amazing value for money, there is yet the 16 core capable of 5.1GHz..........

I don't Neeed it as I am still loving my 2700X, but.....

EDIT:
Hoping they will fit right into my MSI X470 Gaming Pro Carbon AC which has excellent power phase setup.
