Smart Access Memory Available for Ryzen 3000 processors as well

Smart Access Memory Available for Ryzen 3000 processors as well

A feature that is appreciated by many was adding support for Smart Access Memory aka resize BAR functionality on the Ryzen 5000 platform. AMD yesterday also announced that Ryzen 3000 will get supported.

AMD reports that users with Ryzen 3000 systems can update their BIOS with Agesa version 1.1.0.0 to get that support enabled. The feature however only works on series 500 chipset-based motherboards with (X570 or B550). Smart Access Memory will not work on Ryzen 3000G APUs, such as the Ryzen 5 3400G and Ryzen 3 3200G.

A secondary requirement is that you need to own a Radeon RX 6000 video card to use Smart Access Memory.  The recently released GeForce RTX 3060 also supports the feature. Other RTX 30 video cards will also receive support for the feature via a bios update. Intel as well has added the feature to its Z490 and soon Z590 chipset.

If compatible and you'd like to try it out, seek Re-Size BAR Support' and 'Above 4G Decoding' in your BIOS.

since this feature is pci express based, and is between the cpu and the gpu, that are directly connected outside the chipset.
I want to know what the hell you need the serie 500 for.

I m sure this feature can be activated on zen1 with geforce 1000 series too.
But probably no one wants to help there.

I'm sure it can work there, it's just that no one wants to provide support for it and solve possible issues. It's not an unreasonable thing, to be honest.
