Shuttle releases 3-litre PC with slot for PCIe x16 expansion cards

Shuttle releases 3-litre PC with slot for PCIe x16 expansion cards

The first 3-litre PC from Shuttle with a fully-fledged PCI Express x16 3.0 slot virtually spells the end of limitations. Almos  any expansion card can now be fitted in the Mini-PC, which is only around 7 cm high.

The XH110G model from the XPC slim category is a compact barebones PC in a 25 x 20 x 7.85 cm (DWH) format. Its mainboard with an Intel H110 chipset can accommodate up to 32 GB of DDR4 memory and Intel processors (LGA1151) with up to 65 W of TDP. Two M.2 slots, one being M.2-2280 and one M.2-2230, may for example accommodate an NVMe SSD and a WLAN module – or also lots of other commercially available M.2 add-on cards. But the clou about this new XPC is its full-size PCI Express x16 3.0 slot. This is suitable for graphics cards or expansion cards with a x1 x16 connector (e.g. for multi-display graphics, 10 Gbit network, Thunderbolt, sound/video capture card, TV tuner, PCIe SSD and many more) in a single-slot format. To create enough space, the chassis has been modified on different ends, very subtly at first glance. The chassis cover now has ventilation openings and the space for the 2.5 inch hard disk/SSD has been moved to the bottom of the XH110G and can be accessed via a separate hatch. Directly next to the hard disk/SSD there is a conventional USB port which can be utilised for example for dongles, theft-proof data storage media or add-ons such as wireless modules. The front and rear side sport the familiar connectors: Audio, 1x HDMI, 1x VGA, 2x USB 3.0, 6x USB 2.0 and Gigabit Ethernet.

"Not only PC gamers will be interested in the fact that here it is even possible to combine an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti graphics card with a Core i7 processor and 32 GB of RAM," says Tom Seiffert, Head of Marketing & PR at Shuttle Computer Handels GmbH. "The XH110G also makes multi-display scenarios a reality or has the room for just the required expansion for a special project."

To ensure that sufficient power can be supplied even when in top-spec configuration, the XH110G is supplied with a 180 Watt external power supply unit.

An active heatpipe cooling system with two smooth-running 6 cm fans is also present. This principle works both with the machine lying flat or standing upright. For mounting on walls and surfaces, a VESA mount is already included with the device. An appropriate stand is available separately. Optionally available accessories are a stand (PS01) and a Wi-Fi kit (WLN-M). The recommended retail price from Shuttle for the XH110G is EUR 231.00 (ex VAT). This model is available from specialist retailers Europe-wide upon publication of this press release.

I dont believe that this will work with 65W CPU, cooler is too small.. Maybe someone will try it and import FanlessTech, this is maybe for 35W TDP CPU.

I think this is meant for internet cafes.. No sane gamer would want to use this kind of setup.
