Server Version Of Windows 7 Already Coming 2009

Bill Laing, Microsoft's Corporate Vice President of the Windows Server and Solutions Division, confirmed that Windows Server 2008 R2 (Windows 7's server version) is already being released in 2009. A release candidate is supposed to be available during the following weeks, just as the RC of Windows 7. This means that Microsoft is actually ahead of its schedule with Windows 7. Since server versions of an operating system usually ship after the desktop version, this is good news for all those who are hoping for a release of Windows 7 in 2009.

As an interesting side note, a new build of Windows 7 was found online, as well. Compiled on April 4th, its build number is 7105 and it's very likely that the soon available RC of Windows 7 will be a build 7100.
