Seagate simplifies HDD lineup, kills 5400RPM

Seagate has simplified its Barracuda desktop HDD lineup, from now on 1TB platters spinning at 7200RPM are the standard. The low-power 5400RPM models have been cancelled, with the company claiming that these models didn't deliver meaningful power savings for regular desktop users.

Seagate (NASDAQ:STX) is streamlining its flagship family of desktop drives under a single product that hones in on performance and big capacities to help satisfy the explosive growth in content creation and consumption by businesses and consumers worldwide. The new Barracuda
