Seagate launches 8TB Archive HDD at 250 EURO

Last week we reported that Seagate was launching a 6TB HDD, this week we can report that they have released an 8TB HDD for just 250 EURO. These drives are intended for NAS storage and are not the fastest platters spinning at 5900 RPM. However, the new models hold 8TB of data.



The Seagate Archive series HDDs of 8TB have a SATA 6Gbps interface. At the website these puppies are listed have an idle power consumption of 5W with an average operating power of 7.5W.

Standby power consumption of less than 1W. The specification sheet reveals it's capable of throughput speeds of up to 190MB/s. Over at Geizhals (EU price comparison engine) the HDDs are listed starting 247 EURO.
