Sapphire Releases Custom RX Vega 64 and RX Vega 56 Nitro+

Sapphire Releases Custom RX Vega 64 and RX Vega 56 Nitro+

Sapphire Launched custom Radeon RX Vega 64 and RX Vega 56 models, the Nitro + Limited Editions come with big coolers, BIOS options and are roughly 7% overclocked.

The difference between the reference cards and the Nitro++series is mainly to be found in cooling. They run much softer and lower in temperatures. Sapphire uses a three fan cooler, the middle one weirdly enough turning in the opposite direction compared to the other two? It has six heatpipes. It has not one, not two, nor Sirreeeh ... it has three 8-pin PEG connections. Sapphire offers two BIOS modes, one an overclock mode and the other an energy-saving mode, this last one does make the card a notch slower by reducing lower consumption. Here the power limiter simply is lowered.

ComputerBase tested the card and indeed it shows that the cooling is an improvement over the reference model, its ten degrees cooler, with a rated 37 dB (A) noise level. On OC modus you'll see roughly 7 % additional performance seen from the reference design. The recommended retail price of the Sapphire Nitro+ Radeon RX Vega 56 Limited Edition is rather steep, at 579 euros in Germany.

Vega 56 with three power connectors? I reckon it comes with a built-in laser cannon to use all that power.

Sadly not FPS. Still pales in comparison to 1080Ti even at high resolutions.

£750 for the Nitro+ 64 here in the UK, can get the much faster 1080 Ti cheaper, and the 56 is £560, which is more than the faster 1080, rediculous pricing.

Very impressive noise reduction - massive noise reduction - in comparison to reference Vega, and that's while increasing performance too!
