SanDisk Offers 1TB UHS-I microSD Card (Does 160 MB/s)

Sandisk now fabs a UHS-1 specified MicroSD card that can store an amazing 1TB of data. The card is manufactured to the SDXC standard and is compatible with exFat file system only to newer devices that support this format. According to Sandisk, hardware built after 2010 should meet this requirement.

They are pricey: the 1 TB storage card from SanDisk will cost $ 500 (440 euros) and is for sale from April. These impressive levels of capacity and speed give consumers the ability to create all the content they want without worrying about space limitations or long transfer times.

Designed to help move tons of high-quality content faster than ever, the 1TB SanDisk Extreme UHS-I microSD card reaches speeds up to 160 MB/s. This new card allows consumers to transfer files in nearly half the time over standard UHS-I microSD cards currently on the market. The cards reach these record-breaking speeds by leveraging Western Digital's proprietary flash technology. The new SanDisk Extreme card will also be available in 512GB* capacity, and will feature the A2 specification for launching and loading apps at blazing speeds. The 1TB and 512GB SanDisk Extreme UHS-I microSD cards are available for pre-order now on SanDisk.com, and will be available at select retailers in April 2019.

The cards will be priced at U.S. MSRPs of $449.99 and $199.99, respectively.

Honestly, that price is reasonable considering how massive that amount of storage is in such a tiny form factor. That's also pretty decent performance for an SD card. It wasn't that long ago when we had 1TB SATA and PCIe SSDs for the same price (though, they were a lot faster).

I thin that's a good price also for such a massive storage space, probably price will fall in short time, i remember when 32gb mSD were like the ultimate storage, i bought one for a fortune, today those just cost 5 bucks

It still amazes me to no end how on earth we could store such quantity of information on such small piece of technology.
I remember the day when @Hilbert Hagedoorn foresaw the whole SSD development and benched some weird SSD made out of flash cards.
Anyone remembers that?
