I think we reported about this unit back at Computex last year ? Well, Sandisk is finally launching their portable SSDs , the Extreme 500. They will be available in three different storage capacities including 120GB, 240GB and 480GB.

These puppies are shockproof and vibration proof SSDs feature a USB 3.0 connection interface (USB 2.0 backward compatible) and come with SanDisk SecureAccess software that provides 128-bit AES file encryption and password protection.

Supporting Windows 10, 8.1, 8, 7, Vista and Mac OS 10.6 or later operating systems, the Extreme 500 portable SSDs can deliver read/write speeds of up to 415/340 MB/s (120GB & 240GB models) and 430/400 MB/s (480GB model), respectively. Backed by a 3-year warranty, the SanDisk Extreme 500 portable SSDs will go on sale from February. Prices unannounced yet.
