SanDisk and Western Digital brand in Japan (correction)
You can probably remember that a couple of years ago Western Digital acquired Sandisk in an offer to get into the NAND market. The Sandisk line of products however has always been released next to the WD ones.
Update: We received word from WD Japan, the news involves the Japan segment only, see below;
We distributed the attached press release yesterday announcing Western Digital’s Japan entity name will be changed from SanDisk limited to Western Digital GK. SanDisk limited is based in Japan and is 100% subsidiary of Western Digital Corporation, and is different from SanDisk Corporation. FYI, SanDisk Corporation has been liquidated when Western Digital Corporation acquired in 2016. This announcement is purely a company name change of Japan entity and we will not cease SanDisk brand but continue to offer SanDisk brand products. There will be no change to the product brand.
