SandForce based Intel SSD 520 Series soon

by Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 12/05/2011 12:16 PM | source: | 0 comment(s)

In 2012, Intel will give its SSD lineup a large-scale revamp, which includes the gradual replacement of SSD 510 series with new SSD 520 "Cherryville" series. Targeting the same high-end client segment, SSD 520 will be available in a wider variety of capacities that includes 60 GB, 120 GB, 180 GB, 240 GB, and 480 GB.

However the 520 is to be launched real soon with performance at 550MB/s read with 520MB/s write and 70,000IOPS at random 4k aligned write disk access.

Originally scheduled for release in November 2011, the drive has a great five year warranty and yes is SandForce 2281 based.
