Samsung Working On 44 and 48-inch Monitors with 29:9 and 32:9 aspect ratios
Oh yes, even more weird ratios. Samsung is working on two large monitors alright. Both of them will be curved at 1800R. The 49-inch model will get a 3840 x 1080 pixels resolution and basically creates two 27-inch 1080p-displays. They call this Double Full HD (DFHD). The AV panel should get a 5000:1 contrast ratio and a 144 Hz refresh rate.
The second panel is the 44inch one, that would entail two 24.7-inch displays and will get a resolution of 3840 x 1200. This display as well gets a AV panel should get a 5000:1 contrast ratio and a 144 Hz refresh rate. Both units will go into production right after the summer in September, availability is unknown states TFT Central:
- 49" mega-wide panel - this panel will offer a massive 49" size, in a 32:9 aspect ratio which Samsung are referring to as a "Grand Circle" format. We knew about the plans to produce a panel like this back in January 2016, but more details are starting to emerge now which is good news. These are the current specs but could of course change between now and mass production. The resolution will be 3840 x 1080 (referred to as DFHD = double full HD). It will be a VA technology panel with a 1800R curvature and a 3-side frameless design. The panel will offer a high 5000:1 static contrast ratio which is pushing the CR beyond current Samsung VA panels in fact. Perhaps most interesting is that the panel will apparently support a 144Hz refresh rate, along with options for AMD FreeSync and NVIDIA G-sync. The panel is due to go in to mass production around September 2017.
- Double 24.7" (44") - this is an interesting option in their Grand Circle format. Creating a 29:9 aspect ratio and ultrawide format, this is a double 24.7" sized screen which ends up being 44" diagonal in size. It's designed to replace dual 24" sized monitors really and offers a 3840 x 1200 resolution. It's a VA panel with 5000:1 contrast ratio, 1800R curvature, 8-bit colour depth and a 3-side frameless design. There will apparently be 60Hz and 144Hz versions available and it is expected to go in to mass production in September 2017.
- 40" Full HD - slightly less interesting is a large 40" panel with a 1920 x 1080 resolution VA panel. This offers a 1800R curvature, 3000:1 contrast ratio and 8-bit colour depth. This might well be aimed at TV / multimedia displays given the resolution and spec. It is expected to go in to production in Aug 2017.

The majority of games nearly support 21:9 and they really isn't many issues with it.
Most cases its stretched hud or hid is in 16:9 location instead of 21:9 location.
For me 16:9 sucks compared to 21:9. And when watching proper widescreen movies, it fits my 21:9 correctly vs black bars on 16:9.
Sounds nice and all, but does any media currentlry support such aspect ratios? i hear 21:9 sometimes has issues in some games that only support 16:9, guessing these wont fair any better or in some cases worse?

Curve crap but 1080, right.
I don't see anything above 26" that looks good with that low res.

For me it's OLED or nothing.
My 32'' 2560x1440 is already big enough, and its HP VA panel is real good with colors especially with blacks.
Yet this is still not good enough when it comes to playing STALKER in moonless night
I really really want that pitch dark, zero light emission black (0,0,0), like my Tab S2 OLED is putting out.
