Samsung to release C27F591FDU Curved VA monitor

Curved is a thing for Samsung, it does work well with a moniutor though. The C27F591FDU is actually highly curved at 1800R. This 27” panel has Multi-Domain Vertical Alignment at 1920 x 1080 (Full HD) resolution and 3000:1 static contrast and 250 cd/m² brightness.

It has a 60Hz refresh rate and Adaptive-Sync / AMD FreeSync. The panel has an advertised 4 ms (G/G) response time. The rear of the monitor is glossy and white but does not have a VESA mount. It has DP 1.2, HDMI 1.4a (with Adaptive-Sync), a 3.5mm headphone jack and 2 x 5W speakers.

A flicker-free backlight is used, with a specified 81% NTSC (119.3% sRGB) colour gamut coverage. Samsung states in one of their more recent press releases that ‘active color crystal technology’ is used, so possibly a Quantum Dot based backlight.

The FreeSync features of the monitor (including FreeSync) can be harnessed over HDMI. AMD’s FreeSync information page notes that FreeSync is available via DP (but not HDMI) on this model, which is incorrect. At any rate, a FreeSync range of 48 – 72Hz is specified which is achieved on the monitor with the ‘Ultimate Engine’ option selected. Power consumption is rated at 54 kWh per year (albeit that's a rather loose number as it depends on actual usage right?). The monitor is now available in the US for under $350, with availability in the UK expected in June.
