Samsung Starts Shipping 4TB model of 850 Evo SSD
Samsung has started rolling out their 4TB version of their 850 Evo SSD. This 2.5" model appeared in online pricewatch engines and will be selling for 1349 euro. The high capacity is possible due to vertically stacked NAND.
Samsung earlier last year already announced that the 4TB model would be released in 2016. It is very likely we'll see a 4TB PRO model soon as well, the high-end model. Though that is not confirmed and this we do not know a price on that model either.
Back in August during the flash memory summit Samsung announced their 3rd gen V-nand technology, the new revision bumped the current 32-layers towards 48 layered stacks of NAND flash memory. The SATA III based 2.5" 850 pro and 850 EVO had been announced as the first SSDs in line to receive the NAND upgrade and thus larger capacities to 4TB.
Up-to now the maximum size was 2TB (read our 850 EVO 2TB review here).

This. And i even don't bother with an external drive, i just hook up my WD Green instead of DVD (sad i know) and backup at full speed. Waiting for some cheap USB 3.1 docking station, i hope it won't need an external power supply.

Evolution of such kinda things make them worth less each passing year so let them develop more and in few years and their price will drop or better say would be more affordable (without the factor of earthquakes, fires etc...)

A pair of 2tb would be a better deal in the long run that alone save you $300
Here in USA that 4tb would cost just over $1500 when you get a pair of 2tb 850 EVO for $600 each where the 850 EVO 1tb $290 each when on sale like rigth now.
Where this would come in real handy is in NAS drive

even google's data shows the drives will have chips dying before write amplification/endurance will be an issue.
but most people/consumers wont have xTB of data that needs to be "secure", so just using another ssd/hdd to backup my personal stuff will be enough.
i rather pull out an external hdd every other week/month and backup my important stuff, while running a ssd-only system, than to keep listening to the "noise" i get from a hdd (even with silent drives out there). not even talking about (case) temps or transfer rates.
