Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge announced
Samsung announced the newest additions to the Galaxy family, Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge. The standard S7 retains the 5.1-inch, quad HD Super AMOLED display from its predecessor.
“We believe in a world that is brighter, sharper, more convenient, and more fun. We strive to deliver on that vision with the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge by marrying elegant design with functionality and providing a seamless mobile experience,” said DJ Koh, President of Mobile Communications Business, Samsung Electronics. “We empower consumers with technology to help them get more out of life and will continue to push the frontier of what’s possible.”
Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge introduce the first Dual Pixel camera on a smartphone, delivering brighter and sharper images, even in low light. Thanks to the revolutionary Dual Pixel technology, brighter lens with wider aperture, and bigger pixel, the camera has a faster shutter speed and a more accurate autofocus even in low-light conditions. Motion Panorama, a new camera mode, brings movement to traditional panoramic photos, giving the user a completely immersive visual experience.
The 5.1-inch Galaxy S7 and 5.5-inch Galaxy S7 edge are constructed with 3D glass and metal – all in a sleek design with durability and ergonomic curves for a comfortable grip. From work to play, the device’s new Always-On Display, gives users a simplified, zero touch experience where they don’t need to worry about missing a call or important notification.
Without compromising design, Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge both have increased utility with IP68 water and dust resistance. Edge UX, the advanced edge experience available on Galaxy S7 edge, provides convenience and increased efficiency by creating easy shortcuts to users’ most loved functions such as email, selfie mode, panorama mode or third party applications.
Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge deliver fast wired and wireless charging technology. Additionally, the hybrid SIM card tray allows users to insert a microSD card for up to 200GB of additional storage and in some select countries, the tray can be used with a dual SIM card.
Samsung also made significant hardware and software updates to optimize gaming performance on Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge. The powerful processer and bigger battery capacity ensure longer playing time, and the internal cooling system keeps the device from overheating. Game Launcher, a new add-on for gamers, allows users to manage battery consumption and minimize notifications. Additionally, users can record their gaming experience or share their screen to play with others. Paired with Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge, Vulkan API gives users the ability to play high-performance graphic games with lower battery consumption.

Every friend that I've had who's tried my Oculus essentially said the same thing. At first they didn't care much, then they tried it, then they are like "oh ****".
It's why I find it so amusing that every time a rift/vive thread comes up on Guru3D there are so many haters. After you use it, you like fully understand the potential that VR has in gaming. Especially in games like ED, where the entire interface is like designed around it. It's awesome.
I think Oculus was smart in pairing up with Samsung for it -- it's a small value-add to the phone and it gets people talking/using it.
Yeah, it really is an amazing experience.
I agree that pairing it with Samsung is genius, there has to be a huge amount of people who go into it thinking meh.
It's just price that is the issue, never did i think that the 1440p screen on the S7 Edge would not be sufficient resolution wise, but it is.
Pyr0, yeah the lack of lag when moving your head also surprised me, as did the low resolution, but when a very low res game trailer (AC Synicate Jack the Ripper) might well be one of the best thing you have ever seen, you know something is going in the right direction.

I'll have to have a look for that, nice one

Very cool, thanks for the link

Not sure if my card will be fast enough though (Sandisk Extreme Plus), so I might pick up an EVO+ sometime as I've heard they're supposed to have some of the fastest random speeds.

Just got my device today, S7E. I've decided to start clean, not restoring any backups (thus preventing downloads of my previous device's bloat) from my Note 3.
Very little bloatware, although the bloody FB app is a system app now, so unremovable. Got my first update already, was like 95MB. I'm liking it and my trusty S Charger Pad (EP-P100IEWE, the light gray rectangular one) works well with it.

I wasn't particularly excited to upgrade my phone as I was just at the end of my contract and considering just going SIM only to reduce monthly outgoings... Bbut my HTC had other ideas and the earpiece decided to die, necessitating a new device
After having the S7 Edge for a couple of days now though, I'm liking it much more than I thought I would
VR was fun for 5 minutes. I was surprised at how little lag there was when moving my head but didn't see much point in paying for any apps or games with such a low resolution and it's now back in the box.
