Samsung announces mind boggling 200-megapixel image sensor ISOCELL HP1
Samsung has announced the release of the "ISOCELL HP1" image sensor, which will be used in mobile devices such as smartphones. It relates to the first 200 million pixels in the industry's history, topping the existing industry high point of 108 million pixel sensors.
The pixel size is only 0.64 microns in size. Featuring the "Chameleon Cell" pixel binning technology, this camera is capable of shooting in low light conditions, where its incredibly small size would be detrimental to the camera's overall light sensitivity. Adjacent pixels are clustered together according to their location in the environment and regarded as a pseudo 1 pixel in order to maintain the quantity of light available. It can be used as a sensor with 50 million pixels or 12.5 million pixels, depending on whether 2x2 or 4x4 pixels are used in conjunction.
Additionally, the video allows 8K video recording at a frame rate of 30 frames per second. 8K shooting is made feasible by lowering the four neighboring pixels together to 50 million pixels, or 8,192 x 6,144 dots, which allows for no trimming or reduction during the process.
In addition, the "ISOCELL GN5" image sensor with a resolution of 1.0 microns and the ability to perform high-speed autofocus will be released at the same time. It is equipped with "Dual Pixel Pro," which detects changes in light by placing photodiodes horizontally and vertically to detect changes in light, and this allows it to achieve high-speed autofocus. Furthermore, the novel "Front Deep Trench Isolation (FDTI)" technology improves the full-well capacity (FWC), reduces intra-pixel crosstalk, and allows for the capture of sharper images. The first samples of the new "ISOCELL HP1" and "ISOCELL GN5" sensors have already been shipped.

Taking into account 8K is less than 34MP, pushing big MP count is just marketing at this point.
I'm more interested in better low light and auto focus performance.
