Sabrent Unveils 16 TB External SSD: Up to 2.7 GB/s in RAID 0
Sabrent has released an external SSD, the unit is comprised of two 8 TB NVME SSDs. With support for raid 0/1/jbod so you can choose one large 16TB SSD, two 8TB, or a redundant solution with a total capacity of 8TB.
The unit connects over Thunderbolt 3. The unit has been rugged and was fitted into a rubber case. It is not known when the Rocket XTRM-Q 16 TB should be available. Sabrent does mention a suggested retail price; the external ssd comes with a hefty price tag of 2,900 US dollars which boils down to 16 cents per GB.

This seems to be a rather hacky way to get 16TB externally. Isn't Sabrent pretty close to making a 16TB drive? Seems like the R&D isn't worth it.
