Ryzen 7 2700X 50th Anniversary Edition Gets Laser Inscription With Lisa Su Signature

In an earlier post, we already shared that AMD is preparing for the festivities of their celebration 50th anniversary beginning with a Ryzen 2700x 50th-anniversary edition to be released on or around May 1st, 2019. Product photos of the CPU and packaging now emerged.

It looks to be your normal 12 nm "Pinnacle Ridge" silicon has 8-cores/16-threads at 3.70 GHz clock speed and a 4.30 GHz maximum Precision Boost, XFR, L2 cache of 512 KB per core, and 16 MB of shared L3 cache. the specifications seem to be similar to that of the regular model, so it is unknown in what area it is different (if at all) from the regular Ryzen 7 2700X. Eight cores / 16 threads run at a base speed of 3.7 GHz, with a Precision Boost to 4.3 GHz. The SKU also will get the same Wraith Prism cooler with RGB lighting.

However, the packaging is updated to a new black and gold design. The proc itself will be a commemorative special edition as the CPU gets a laser-etched signature of AMD President and CEO, Lisa Su.

Good point, but I wouldn't be at all surprised to learn that a few hard-core collectors will buy this and not even open the box. Most especially since you can see the processor without needing to do so. It's a shame that they couldn't have anodized the heat-spreader in a champagne gold color. I suspect that even as we post comments some miscreant is creating forgeries. You know, the 50th Anniversary "tray" edition.

So...as expected...can't resist making a comparison between them and intel anniversary edition: intel giveaway 8086 cpu's ---> amd:nada, 300Mhz+ normal and turbo boost speed intel 8086K ---> amd:nada...Let's hope that the much waited second Christ coming zen2 architecture will not be a disappointment(not necessary performance but price since they have history of being greedy from the athlon 64 times -no different than intel here) because if AMD is good at something is the waiting game: "just wait for our next product - it will rock!"- and then bummer or expensive...it is clear that they have employed a big marketing firm to make a very aggressive online campaign for them - let's hope that it is not all marketing and let's hope that intel will have an answer because otherwise in a couple of month we will be cursing the price/performance ratio of amd instead...
