Updated: Ryzen 5000 Refresh ? Ryzen 9 5950XT and Ryzen 5 5600XT appear (debunked)
We've seen the XT branding pop up a few times already, but it seems that AMD might be preparing a refresh of its Vermeer family, that is, the Ryzen 5000 desktop processors, with XT variants. Two models have been spotted thus far: The Ryzen 9 5950XT and the Ryzen 5 5600XT.
According to the info from well-known leaker Patrick Schur the Ryzen 9 5950XT will maintain its default configuration of 16 cores / 32 threads at a base frequency of 3.40 GHz, however, the XT version would get a 5.00 GHz turbo frequency. Admittedly unless we see more core or different PL2 states, this means merely a slight improvement considering the 4.90 GHz Turbo on the current 5950X.
Ryzen 5600XT remains 100% similar at 6 cores / 12 threads at the same frequencies of 3.70 / 4.60 GHz, so it could be a revised replacement version, and as it is an XT variant, it is expected that it will be a binned silicon. AMD just released a new B2 stepping for the processors.
To be continued?
Update:
An AMD spokesperson told that the company will gradually switch to the B2 stepping of Ryzen 5000 processors over the next six months. The revision does not change the specifications and performance of the processors, according to the manufacturer. With the Ryzen 3000 generation, AMD released XT variants over time. In practice they were hardly faster than their predecessors. It is not known whether AMD will also come with XT versions for the Ryzen 5000 generation. The choice for a revision without name and specification changes may indicate that AMD is skipping such a refresh this time.
AMD
As part of our continued effort to expand our manufacturing and logistics capabilities, AMD will gradually move AMD Ryzen 5000 Series Desktop Processors to B2 Revision over the next 6 months. The revision does not bring improvements in terms of functionality or performance, furthermore, no BIOS update will be required.

we all know this has more to do with kicking Intel in the teeth than real world issues or needs.
that said, it's always nice to know where you are in the silicon lottery before you buy a ticket.
I would argue it's just AMD trying to increase their profit margin, considering the current state of hardware sales.
