Ryzen 3 3100 / Ryzen 3 3300 based Quad Core procs from AMD (updated)
There's no stopping AMD lately, the entire Ryzen 3000 line-up has been incredible successful. But wait Dave, there's more (as there always is). Of course in the lower end of the spectrum there is room left as really, the lowest core count for AMD is six cores currently in the 3000 series.
Well, AMD seems to be planning quad-core based Ryzen 3 series processors as well. It might be a proper value opportunity for a quick internet PC, and well even for gaming if with a fast enough clocked SKU.
The new quad-core processors would be ZEN2 and thus Matisse based, it will be interested to see how the chips are configured as each die still holds 8 cores divided into two 4-core clusters (CCX). Likely AMD will be disabling one of the two CCXs completely opposed to running a more complex 2+2 core configuration. It saves on latency as well. momomo_us spotted two entries, the Ryzen 3 3100 (MPN: 100-000000284) and the Ryzen 3 3300X (MPN: 100-000000159).
Both processors have hyperthreading / SMT enabled and that means 4 cores, 8-threads with a 65W TDP. The 3100 would boost towards 3.90 GHz, the 3300X towards 4.30 GHz. If priced right, these might be making excellent little value processors for a quick PC build based on a lower specced motherboard. Chatter is a June release for these procs.
Update: prices for the two four-core models have been mentioned on the web. The Ryzen 3 3100 is said to be sold for $ 104, the Ryzen 3 3300X for $ 120. According to the current exchange rate with taxes that would be around 114 euros and 130 euros. It is just as unclear whether the CPUs are going to retail or are only intended for system providers (Source: KOMACHI_ENSAKA (Twitter))

Well they will be very cheap most likely to apply pressure to the core i3 line up a 3100 should be equivalent to the 1600AF which no doubt 1st and 2nd gen CPU inventory is drying up so it's the next logical move really which will provide higher single threaded performance and on par with a 6 core 12 thread part in multi threaded if the 3600 vs 1800x/2700 is anything to go by.

2017 QUAD CORES ARE DEAD
2020 AMD LAUNCHES QUAD CORES.
There's a difference between 4/4 in a mid range 5 cpu and 4/8 in an entry level 3 cpu. Nobody expect to get a 8/16 or even 6/12 in a Core i3 or Ryzen 3.

This is interesting to me. Unlike many of you, I still don't have much need for more than 4 cores. These could be an excellent upgrade for my R3 1200, but I'd really like to get a 4 core apu (Zen2 cores) with a gpu as good as a 1050ti.

Will probably buy one for my 24/7 running home server.
Currently using an old i7 CPU which is sucking up a LOT of electricity ....
I would love to switch to that sweet 7nm efficiency and drop the amount of Watts my server uses in half !
3200G wasn't enticing enough, it's just the old 14/12nm Zen+

i wonder what price they expect to put on this, 50$ for 3100 and 70$ for 3300x? i mean they have a 6c12t model at like 80$, a bit more ipc while losing 2 cores doesnt sound better at all
