Running third-party applications in the Background Might Get You Banned in Destiny 2 PC

Running third-party applications in the Background Might Get You Banned in Destiny 2 PC

Destiny 2 released for PC earlier today some players report that have been banned. The ban-wave seems to largely stem from a strict policy when it comes to applications running in the background.

Posting on the official website, Bungie has pointed out that the PC version of Destiny 2 will “resist attempts” by third-party applications for access reports segmentnext. This means that Bungie is actively blocking 3rd party monitoring tools like Fraps and Afterburner. I just installed the game to check it out and cannot replicate a ban. However, while I am not banned, the game definitely is preventing the MSI AfterBurner overlay from hooking into the game. So Bungie at the very least is blocking Afterburner and similar software in a pro-active manner. Which is a new low as apparently, GeForce Experience was white-listed?

Blocking 3rd party overlays ... can I just say WTF Bungie ?!

--- Segmentnext:

This does not only include suspiciously injected code for cheating purposes but also a number of common services that players have been using for years.

To begin with, the only method to stream and capture gameplay footage is to use Nvidia Shadowplay or AMD ReLive while playing in fullscreen. Using applications such as OBS and XSplit in any way is not permitted. Other recording software such as Razer Cortex, Fraps, and Dxtory also have similar restrictions.

Secondly, players will be banned in Destiny 2 for using overlays from third-party applications. This includes applications for voice communications such as Discord and Mumble as well as for hardware monitoring such as MSI Afterburner, EVGA Precision, and Fraps.

“The examples listed are not all-encompassing, and players may encounter issues with the features of other applications that rely on code being inserted into the game client,” Bungie warned. “Players are to run these applications’ features at their discretion while running Destiny 2.”

As far as the developer is concerned, the PC version of Destiny 2 will run fine as long as players disable overlays and use the aforementioned applications for streaming and capturing. However, many have reported that they were banned nonetheless for running absolutely nothing but the Battle.net client in the background. One player shared on Reddit that he was running the game on a new laptop with just the operating system and the game itself but was still banned.

I use MSI Afterburner in Logitech LCD G19....do you think bann me?

I dont understand this company ;(

Idk if it will ban you, but the official statement from Bungie is no, but clearly something is tripping their anticheat so i would disable/turn off everything that you don't need for gaming.

Using hwinfo + Rtss in Destiny 2 does not show anything indeed. However using overlay from Geforce Experience, Ansel, can view the fps counter did not try to stream live though. No ban still and believe wont happen. Although it is stupid decision from bungie. Game is great .
