Rumor: Radeon RX Vega cards Look to be Insanely good crypto-currency miners

Rumor: Radeon RX Vega cards Look to be Insanely good crypto-currency miners

Gamers beware, rumors now indicate that the Radeon RX Vega cards might be insanely good crypto-currency miners. And that will be a problem as miners would purchase them for above average prices, which thus will drive volume availability down, and prices up.

With the price segment being higher and based on a new and different architecture we'd all have hoped the card would not be great miners, but as it is rumored right now (and it is just that, a loose rumot), the cards can achieve insane hashrates nearing 70-100 per card.  That statement was made by OC UK's staff, Gibbo who retrieved that bit of information from an AMD AIB partner.

While the hash-rate was in the 30 for the Vega Frontier edition, apparently a recent driver update to improve features and gaming performance also doubled mining capabilities. Even a hashrate of 60 would be excellent.

If this is true, it's going to be a bad deal for gamers. Miners would buy all available stock, driving prices up. Then again, perhaps the AIB partner who warped this rumor into the web is having a hard laugh for the kicks of releasing a rumor/viral. It could even be a bit of a viral from OcUk to drive pre-order prices up a bit (though we doubt that, but who knows right?). Regardless, let's hope AMD has heaps of cards available at launch.

Must suck to be a gamer that's been waiting forever for Vega right now, coz now its gunna launch and you still won't find one for months longer and retailers will have a field day with inflating the price. While this might be great for AMD, gamers are gunna pay, and pay a lot.

If the rumour is true (was said in a front page post on guru3d) and the vega 56 is 20% above 1070. Then the vega 64 is 30 or more above it. So yes, it is an upgrade IF THE RUMOUR IS TRUE.

This ones interesting. the rumour is that Vega 56 is 20% faster than 1070, but the leak was only showing a couple of games. Bf1, Doom and maybe one other? can't quite remember right now.

What i'd like to know is, is Vega 56 20% faster than a 1070 when tested with a full suite of the most popular games rather than cherry picked games which are known to be a strength on amd?...This remains to be seen.

All gamers always complain about amd being bad in games, to much tdp, to slow, drivers not optimized... Do not complain, go buy NVidia. Leave Amd for miners. Why you complain over higher prices of product what you always complain, do not tell me that you want buy cards what you always despise.

If (and that's a big one) this is true then my dream of selling my RX580 for a Vega 56 is out the door. Looks like us gamers have to look at team green only for gaming.

The problem is that the rumour has some possible typos, and the 1070 appears to be under performing. Particularly in Doom.

I think the RX56 rumour is nonsense, im also not convinced by this one either.
I don't really know much about mining etc... but it seems like such a large jump that it doesn't make sense.
