Rumor: Nvidia Reportedly To Acquire Mellanox For $7B

And let me state, this is a very solid rumor. Nvidia would have purchased the American company Mellanox Technologies, the manufacturer of InfiniBand and Ethernet network equipment. Reportedly, Nvidia outbid Intel.

The purchase entails a massive $7 billion and will be the largest takeover ever for Nvidia. The rumor is based on findings from Reuters,. Nvidia and Mellanox likely are to announce the acquisition on Monday.

Mellanox Technologies is a company that makes adapters, switches, and chips for InfiniBand and Ethernet network devices. The company's products are used for supercomputers, data centers, enterprise servers and storage products. Data center revenue now accounts for a third of Nvidia’s sales.
