A new rumor has surfaced on the web today, AMD would be celebrating it's one-year HEDT Threadripper release, with an event planned for Threadripper 2. This launch event would take place in Maranello, the hometown of Scuderia Ferarri.

The news surfaced today through the usual channel, videocardz. Some AMD partners, and assumed, media would have received an invite to attend this event in Maranello. As you guys might have noticed, AMD is an official Scuderia Ferrari sponsor for Formula 1 (check the nose cone for the logo). If the rumor is right, a visit to the Ferrari plant in Modena would be planned as well as a visit to the nearby Maranello circuit to breathe a little Scuderia Ferarri performance.

We've mentioned it a couple of times already. Threadripper 2000 (the Zen+ update based on Pinnacle Ridge cores) is coming, AMD already announced their ginormously impressive 32-core version with four 8-core dies back on Computex. In other news I need to inform you guys of current Threadripper pricing, the prices of current generation Threadripper processors are dropping, fast ... this is also indicative of a pending refresh launch, to clear stock. The sixteen core 1950X can be spotted a 650 EUR, the 12-core 1920X at 550 EUR. So that sixteen core version really is a bargain deal at the moment. Have a peek at a price chart development for the 1950X.

You can spot a Threadripper 1950X for as little as 650 Euros at the moment in several countries in the EU (!), that's like 41 EUR per core. A lot of money sure, but amazing value if you need that number of cores in your PC workload.
