Rumor: AMD Radeon Big Navi has 16GB VRAM (NAVI21), and 12GB for NAVI22
As we get closer to its announcements, AMD Big Navi is around the corner and they would like some momentum. More rumors are spreading the spiders' cyber web right now. AMD would be announcing two Big Navi based models based on the NAVI 21 and NAVI22.
With a bit of luck, AMD will compete with the RTX 3070 with NAVI22 (codename Navy Flounder) and perhaps the NAVI21 (codename Sienna Cichlid aka TAFKABN - The artist formerly known as big navi). We hope it has enough power to battle the RTX 3080. That has to been seen though, but rumors are strong right now that Navi 21 would be paired with 16GB of VRAM (and that is an advantage over the 3080 VRAM wise), Navi 22 would get 12GB. What type of graphics memory that would be is a mystery, GDDR6 or GDDR6X? Meanwhile, the naming also remains to be a mystery, so we'll call it Radeon RX 6900 PRO and 6900XT for now (for the flagship products of course). The source for VRAM amounts is rogame, so please do take all this with that typical grain of salt.
On its end, Videocardz reports that Navi Flounder, frack I'll keep calling it NAVI22 which is easier to remember, would get 40 Compute Units, that's the same as Navi 10. If each Compute Unit still holds 64 shading Processors, Navy Flounder would feature 2560 unified cores (same as Radeon RX 5700 XT), the memory bus would reportedly be configured at 192 or 384-bit (depending on configuration).

I'm on my knees praying to the FPS gods to knock some sense into the Radeon division.. they've seem to have gotten it together on the Ryzen front.. Why is it so hard to make decent decisions for the Radeon group also? I mean there is budget now...
I'm so afraid we get another 5700XT flop, them saying: "well we are catering to 95% of the market now....." I mean... it better be near or better than 3080 performance or it will really show they don't care about Radeon anymore and just want to sell that Ryzen silicon instead. (which financially would make sense with the limited TSMC capacity).
If not now then when? They have the node advantage, they have the marketing and cash flow from Zen. The development support from both Microsoft and Sony... They could do it if they wanted to... building a couple of killer cards outclassing the 3080 by a healthy margin and pricing it competitively... the question is.. do they want to.... The halo products sell the cheaper products.. it's just how it is.. If they care about Radeon as a brand they go for it. For the long term... We will see.. But I'm not overhyping this in any way...
Yes I'm waiting for the release and hoping they get back on track, but I have a feeling I might end up with a 20gb 3080 barn heater because lack of alternatives...
