Rocket Lake Won't See a release this year, Intel HEDT chips stays at 18 cores for now
A lot of rumors and leaks have surfaced on Intel's Rocket Lake processors, today the preliminary result in the ORB. However there is one more rumor loose on the web, and that is that Rocket Lake will not become available this year, according to a leaked slide.
The information posted on the Asus' Republic of Gamers forum reveals that Rocket Lake will not be released anytime soon and Core series 10000 chips will be with us for quite some time. Another mention is that the high-end desktop market (HEDT), there is little in the pipeline in the near future. And with 10-core procs in the desktop space, you do need to wonder about the validity of adding more procs just for the sole reason being more cores. So X299 will remain for a while, with its max 18 cores.
As it goes with all rumors, take them as such.

Intel's 7nm really needs to pan out, otherwise everyone will literally depend on TSMC, which will be awful.

I think they are giving up. The statement of their ceo that benchmarks does not matter and 18cores hedt is enough it sure sounds that way.
