Rivet Networks introduces the 2.5 Gbps Killer E3000 Ethernet Controller
Rivet Networks announces their Killer E3000 Ethernet Controller, which aims to deliver 2.5 Gbps transfer speeds and be optimized for gaming. The Killer E3000 is installed in desktops, notebooks and motherboards from manufacturers such as Alienware and Acer.
Automatic recognition of game data packets
With Advanced Stream Detect technology important network traffic such as online games and video streaming should be automatically detected, classified and prioritized. The Killer E3000 prioritized games before all other applications and should, therefore, allow a particularly low(er) latency while playing.
Improved software with new features
With the new Ethernet controller and the Killer Wireless AC 1550, the revised Killer Control Center 2.0 is also introduced. The new software is designed to give players more information and control over their network. As usual, priorities can be set for games, applications and web pages, as well as bandwidth limitations. In addition, GameFast and Intelligence Engine are introducing two new features. GameFast is designed to automatically pause processes that are not needed for gaming , providing up to 10 percent more CPU power and 20 percent more memory, according to the manufacturer. According to the manufacturer, players will experience a faster and more responsive gameplay. Intelligence Engine analyzes network health and automatically adjusts the killer settings to improve network performance. If it can not be auto-tuned, Intelligence Engine will suggest to the user how to optimize their network.
E3000 is DoubleShot Pro compatible
The Rivet Networks Killer E3000 is compatible with a killer wireless product DoubleShot Pro. The technology detects the fastest network connection and uses it for prioritized network traffic, while the other connection is used for the rest of the traffic. Users can also decide which applications use the wireless or wired connection.

Ah the snake oil company is back with another product that tries to solve a problem that doesn't really exist with a premium price tag.
My mobo has both the E2500 and Intel's 219 LAN ports.
Killer's software caused only problems including their own software freezes and crashes and made various web pages load slower than usual.
The only benefit I could find is playing an online game and downloading things in the background.
And even then it could improve the latency that much.
If you are downloading torrents then you can limit your torrent client's bandwidth so you don't need a "gaming" lan controller.
All in all these products are useless overpriced crap with your usual "gaming" tag on them.

I guess I'm not the only one avoiding Killer on any mainboard I buy...

Back when I was building this PC, I purposefully avoided any mobo model with a Killer controller. I had heard too many stories of the trouble they gave people.

There's nothing wrong with the hardware. Just manually install the driver by downloading the .inf file and direct towards it in the device manger. I do this for many years now and no problems at all.
No reason to avoid motherboards with Killer onboard.
I agree that the software is just one big bloatware mess that should be avoided at any and all costs. Just one big marketing scam.
Why would i need to download crapware do "manage" something with software what my EdgeRouter can do hardware based..

"Killer". Guess they running out of ideas. Can someone name their Ethernet Controller a "Packet Killer"?
I really wish somebody could benchmark those gaming Ethernet solutions compared to normal ones. I bet there literally no change in ping. Maybe a few microseconds.
Selling overpriced hardware to clueless kids is awesome these days.
