The RX 5500 is basically a RX 580 level performance card, with less VRAM, at the price we could already buy the RX 580.
The RX 5500XT enters on RX 590 territory, but again at prices that we already have on the RX 590.
The only good thing in this cards is the power consumption, because the price/performance is terrible, considering it is a new generation.
This GPU market is really upside down! No wonder so many people are jumping to gaming consoles.
The performance of the cards are good, but AMD stuffed up the pricing.

Yes, definitely get one with ray tracing, it's gonna start becoming the 'thing'....from what I hear the next gen NVidia could be the one to get with a significantly increased ray tracing as well as general rendering performance...it's gonna be on a reduced node (7nm) so MOAR transistors! Yep, I'll be getting a 3000 series NVidia GPU, I decided to skip this current generation...not impressive enough & no need. AMD are already on the 7nm node and performance is not ground breaking, so NVidia should have a sizable performance advantage once they switch to 7nm on their 3xxx cards - considering what they're currently able to do with 12nm.
My dusty old card is starting to get beaten by entry level cards like this (especially the real 8GB model) quite badly, but I'm in no hurry to upgrade. I'll need to see the next generation from both camps. I reckon I will want HW raytracing to keep running the card for a few years at least. Of course nobody knows if AMD's first gen RT will amount to much, but probably they needed to convince Sony and MS, at least. For Nvidia it will be the second gen already, which is good, but one can only hope they won't go so crazy with the prices.

Thanks,Mr Hilbert for these tests.
Unfortunatelly,RX 5500 (XT) is on par with RX580/590 and better than 1650.
Lets see how will be RX 5600.

The day has come when AMD's inferior products are more expensive from what competition has to offer... I guess that "special hardware" rdna needs for sharpening is very expensive!
People who think that consoles will help amd, think again, what hardware are consoles using even now?! Sorry, but buying on assumptions that 1 card will perform better then the other in 5 years (when you will most likely start to look for an upgrade) is ridiculous and it was not true so far unless you run out of VRAM.
Considering I do not really need more than 270x and cheapest 1650S in my country is 200EUR, I will rather get used 570/580 at less then half the price with 1y warranty left.

Heavier titles? I was hoping you were using some sort of indirect view. There are no "heavier titles"...it's something you made up to justify your own view point.
It goes something like this:
Either the game will properly support AMD hardware or it won't.
Or
AMD will get proper drivers for those titles and there is improvements
Or
You adjust image quality
Or
You hedge your bets on a next gen video cards.
In a nutshell. I'm sure there are others but for general gist. But for now for what we have is indeed good enough.
I'm guessing you pre-ordered or will soon order CyberPunk right? Having spent $300+ for a 5600xt vs just $199 for a 5500 XT what are you expectations for that game when you factor in the cost? For me $199 looks a lot more attractive with existing hardware. When it comes to the expectation of IQ and performance.
Are you having a laugh?)
