Review: MSI Radeon RX 6800 XT Gaming X TRIO

by Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 12/30/2020 10:51 AM | source: | 23 comment(s)

MSI submitted their beefed-up Radeon RX 6800 XT graphics card for review, this one is a bit more special though as it has been outfitted in the Gaming X TRIO style. Yes, you'll see proper cooling applied to the primary GPU area. The end result is a graphics card that looks both stunning and is notably silent as well.

330w average power consumption ? is that for real
man, this gen absolutely sucks for this.
I hope it's not the new normal.

Why so amazed about that? 6800XT at reference is a 300W rated card, MSI added 30 Watts and additional boost frequency in return for more performance.

Lucky for you if you can get 3080 around 900 Euro, they are all over 1200...
With the empty stock it make also the low end going up: 1030 at over 100, 5500XT at 299 (199 Euro before the stock crisis)...
Come on AMD, NVidia and partners , don't you look at the news? most people gain 2/3 of what they usualy gain due to covid, and some have lost their job... how can they affort that prices.

Sadly, as you can see they have a problem with not enough stock, so people do buy them. I don't see a point though, there is already a €200 markup over the reference card and then due to limited availability, it's going to cost even more. If the prices come down to normal again and this will be €800 with tax (as it's supposed to be), it's definitely an interesting choice, but until then I'll just have to do with the card I have.
