Review: MSI GeForce GTX 980 Ti Lightning

by Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 08/28/2015 04:59 PM | source: | 34 comment(s)

We review the long anticipated and awaited MSI GeForce GTX 980 Ti Lightning edition.  You'll retrieve up-to 1.3 Volts to play with on the GPU voltage range. This 6 GB card is overclocked for you at default already, typically a reference GTX 980 Ti will run 1 GHz. The Lightning however comes with default clocks of 1203 (base) / 1304 (boost) MHz. Armed with 6 GB graphics memory this product was built to impress.

Is this one of those special reviewer's sample cards that come with 122% power limit - but actual retail cards are only like 109% power limit?

MSI pulled that crap on the 980Ti cards. Review samples had very high power limits, but retail cards did not.

Damn all these custom cooler oc 980 ti are untouched in performance. Boost clock is about where it should be I guess, memory oc is freaking sick though.

They leave everything in their price range far behind ;)

Great review HH.
