I have an MSI 1060 Gaming X 6gb so naturally I am curious about the newer card. Too bad they won't let us swap for the newer version but one can wish.

Damn. This thing is fast.
And its powered by mere 314mm2 of silicon die. It does bump TDP a little, but seriously, metrics wise GP104 is the best all-around chip ever.
Imagine if they were selling this GPU in 1060 price bracket... free SLI for everyone! Just turn it off when it doesn't work
