That is true but at lauch 970 was slower than 780ti and now it seems the 970 has surpassed the 780ti. Most likely just down to better drivers to maxwell since launch. Still it does feels like they've dropped optimizing the 780(ti and titan inc)'s as well as they could.
Edit: Should be getting a new 970 tomorrow though, free from a friend who "doesn't use his pc". I built it for him and set everything up. Hasn't even turned it on at home.lol.

Magically loosing their performance while 980/970 perform the same? Come on...
Look at the the latest Evolve benchmark, 780 fast as 280X? Look at the poor 770, lol. How could that happen...
Seen a couple othe recent games where kepler has lost ground, incl FC4:
http://www.techspot.com/review/917-far-cry-4-benchmarks/page4.html
Most likely driver related as I cant recall seeing last gen cards falling sharply behind competitions last gen cards. Nvidia better do something quick lest it shake confidence in those who expect better performance longevity when buying their cards.

780ti was fast as 980 and now its barely fast as 970, why you ask? Well nvidia said 9xx series didnt get performance driver, right? Crippling kepler performance is only explanation i can come up with.
Couple of members here said they are getting less from their gtx780/ti then they used to...another controversy to talk about.
980 was always faster than a 780ti. On launch and today.
